Alameda, CA – Anthony ‘Tony’ Harris, Campbell/Harris Security Equipment Company (CSECO) President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), was recently appointed to the Board of Directors for Fuel Systems Solutions, Inc. He began his post on December 31, 2013 and filled a seat on the seven member board that was vacated by William J Young. Harris will also take Young’s position on the Board of Director’s Audit Committee and Compensation Committee.

According to Mariano Costamagna, Fuel Systems Solutions, Inc. chairman and CEO, Harris was selected because he has proven himself in business. “Tony’s success as a senior executive in operations, marketing, and business acquisition at both corporate and entrepreneurial companies will serve Fuel Systems Solutions well.” He went on to explain that Harris’ experience with leadership development, strategy formation, and management and performance compensation will provide additional value for shareholders. “The board joins me in welcoming him to Fuel Systems.”

Harris, a 1975 graduate of Purdue University (Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering) and 1979 graduate of Harvard Graduate School of Business (Master of Business Administration), stated that “Now is a very exciting and important time in the development of the global market for gaseous fuel powered automotive and industrial engines.” He explained that he looked forward to working with the Board of Directors at Fuel Systems and to assist them in driving “the company toward future success.”

Known by its official name, the Buster K910B Density Meter is also able to detect ‘dirty bombs,’ explosives and narcotics along with other contraband. Other contraband detection equipment manufactured by CSECO includes the CT-30 Kit and FV Series Fiberscope. Customers for these contraband detectors include the US Customs and Border Protection, US State Department, Department of Homeland Security. State and local police departments are also satisfied customers as well as law enforcement agencies from foreign countries.

Harris was the vice president of marketing for Calpine Corporation before he purchased CSECO. His responsibilities included but were not limited to marketing strategy development, brand management, and new product development. As an employee for Pacific Gas and Electric Energy Services from 1997 to 1999, Harris was the vice president of National Account Services and Western Region Sales. Prior to this position, he also held the Director of Alternative Fuel Vehicles and other positions that made him the perfect candidate for the Fuel Systems board position.

Other positions Harris has held include Production Supervisor at Ford Motor Company, Program Manager at Ford Aerospace and Communications Corporation, and General Manager at Anaheim Lincoln Mercury. He was also the president and CEO of StyleChoice.com, a Silicon Valley start-up venture.

Purdue University, Harris’ alma mater, has recognized Harris in 1999 as the Purdue Outstanding Mechanical Engineer, 2008 Distinguished Engineering Alumnus, and 2013 honorary Doctor of Engineering.

While a student at Purdue University, Harris founded the National Society of Black Engineers. He currently serves on NSBE’s National Advisory Board as well as the SF Jazz Center Foundation board of directors, and advisory board for One Pacific Coast Bank.
