With CSECO, Contraband and Narcotics Detection are as Easy as Ever

Campbell/Harris Security Equipment Company (CSECO) has been manufacturing high-quality and dependable contraband and narcotics detection equipment for over three decades. CSECO uses high technology when designing and manufacturing contraband detection equipment that is sophisticated, ergonomic, accurate, and safe to use.

The most common types of contraband transported over the border are drugs (especially narcotics and marijuana), currency, as well as firearms. However, contraband can include any type of illegal drug, explosives, cigarettes, alcohol, and even some food items. Smugglers hide narcotics or cash on many parts of the vehicle including the side panels, inside tires, in car seats, and even in gas tanks.

Years before, it was difficult to detect contraband. Drug interdiction officers and border protection agents relied on their own hands and eyes, rudimentary tools, and luck to detect contraband in hidden locations in vehicles. Smugglers were smart enough to hide contraband in more inaccessible parts of a vehicle, and agents were having a difficult time detecting them. Locating contraband was hit-or-miss, and a large percentage of the time they went undetected.

CSECO became the first company to introduce contraband detection equipment that employed the latest in technology. This made the job of detecting contraband a lot easier for police officers, drug interdiction officers, and US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents. Now they didn’t have to rely on their gut feel and inadequate tools anymore because CSECO’s products positively locate hidden contraband, no matter the situation.

CSECO designed the world’s original contraband detecting tool, the Buster K910B Density Meter or simply Buster, with help from CBP agents. It can detect not only narcotics and cash, but also alcohol, weapons, explosives, and even radioactive materials. Its low-intensity gamma radiation emitter and scintillation detector make it possible to quickly scan surfaces of items without externally damaging them.

Another advantage of the Buster is that it has the ability to use both audio and visual readouts to alert the presence of contraband. The Buster can quickly locate hidden contraband such as narcotics, drugs (prescribed or illegal), stolen cash, weapons, and explosives. Trained interdiction officers who use the Buster have successfully located large amounts of narcotics and illegal drugs. Each Buster user averages yearly confiscations of $250,000.

One more advantage of the Buster over other density meters is that it can also locate the presence of dangerous radioactive elements. It is now equipped with the latest technology called the RAD-Aware® which allows the inspectors to establish safe perimeters should there be a radioactive release from a dirty bomb detonation which will keep civilians out of harm’s way.

A lot of smugglers devise many ways to conceal contraband, and law enforcement agents are fully aware of that. They need to quickly determine if something, such as a vehicle, has been modified. CSECO’s Leica Laser Rangefinder is ideal for this purpose. It allows agents to quickly and positively identify false walls in freight trailers or truck beds. The measurements of both internal and external dimensions of the wall must be equal unless there is an indication that something is hidden inside a false wall or compartment. The Leica Laser Rangefinder is ideal for measuring trucks, trailers, cargo containers and truck beds; it’s also easy to handle and use, and it fits in your pocket.

For more in-depth inspections, CSECO’s newest product, the Perfect Vision V20 Videoscope Inspection System, is the latest technology in visual inspections. Drug interdiction and border protection agents won’t have to attach cables or a camera for viewing because the Perfect Vision V20 Videoscope comes in one piece. Its multi-directional, high-resolution 5-inch LCD display and high quality video chip technology provide 10x the resolution of the leading fiberscope. This gives a clearer, better image of the suspected area where contraband might be present. It also enables you to zoom the images in or out, as well as to brighten or dim the screen for better vision of the suspect area.

The Perfect Vision V20 Videoscope’s video chip technology works better than the glass fibers found in fiberscopes. Unlike glass fibers, the video chip technology on the Perfect Vision V20 Videoscope doesn’t easily corrode or break, reducing the need for repairs.

The Perfect Vision V20 Videoscope has a tungsten-protected shaft that is water- and fuel-resistant, like most fiberscopes. However, the Perfect Vision V20 Videoscope, unlike most other videoscopes and fiberscopes available today, was certified safe by the Underwriters Laboratory (UL), meaning it can be used in hazardous areas such as fuel tanks.

Agents and officers will have everything they need to keep narcotics off the streets and retrieve stolen cash, illegally possessed firearms and explosives, and more by having the CT-40 Contraband Team Detection Kit available. It’s actually an upgraded version of the CT-30 Detection Team Kit, only the Perfect Vision V20 Videoscope replaces the FO – Series Articulated Fiberscope.

The new CT-40 Kit has all the features you love about CT-30 Kit:

  • Buster K910B Density Meter
  • Perfect Vision V20 Videoscope Inspection System
  • PN – Series Inspection Probe Kit – used to trap contraband when inserted into materials such as upholstery, sacks, and flower beds
  • Leica Laser Range Meter
  • PM – 10 Extension Inspector Mirror with High Intensity Flashlight
  • CT-40 Customer Carrying Case with Wheels

CSECO is dedicated to keeping contraband off the streets. Implementing the advanced and cutting-edge technology, detecting and locating narcotics and contraband has never been this easy, effective, accurate, or safe.
