Before, police officers had to admit that criminals were getting more daring and clever in their own “modus operandi” such as transporting illegal drugs and contraband. They would hide these items in places so the inspectors would not be able to detect them. However, with the development of narcotics interdiction equipment available today, law enforcement knows they have the equipment to fit their needs.
Criminals may think they’re getting away with things, but law enforcement respond more intelligently by using more sophisticated methods and high-tech contraband inspection tools. And for this, Campbell/Harris Security Equipment Company (CSECO) was also up to this challenge by first introducing its first product, the Buster K910B Density Meter.
As the demand for more sophisticated and advanced tools grows, CSECO responds to it by adding new technologies to their products.
The Buster K910B was designed by the company founder Patrick J. Campbell with input contributed directly from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents. Campbell developed the device as a response to the request from the federal government to create a density meter that could detect hidden contraband faster but more accurately (without ever having to destroy the suspected item or area until it could be proven that it indeed carried drugs or another type of contraband underneath).
The Buster’s low-intensity gamma radiation emitter and scintillation detector are the combined technologies that have enabled law enforcement agents and drug interdiction officers to seize millions of dollars worth of narcotics, illegal drugs, cash, jewelry, and weapons. The Buster rapidly but accurately recognizes the discrepancies of the density of suspected objects and can scan a wide range of objects from metal to reinforced plastic to even organic matter like dirt.
Because of the Buster’s proven record in seizing hidden contraband, it is called as the “gold standard” of density meters, or even contraband detectors in general. But CSECO went on to improve the device even further, finally arriving at the launch of their newest edition of the Buster, the Buster K910G. The fundamental technology and functions of the Buster K910B are still present in the K910G, but CSECO has made it safer to use by removing its lead-based parts.
The Buster may not be an explosive detection device, but it does detect harmful radioactive elements such as dirty bombs, thanks to its RAD-Aware technology.
The Buster will do well on its own, but for more effective inspections, CSECO added the Perfect Vision V20 Videoscope Inspection System to their line of tools. It is guaranteed to perform better than most leading fiberscopes on the market.
The Perfect Vision V20 Videoscope has a large color LCD display that allows for better visibility of the objects being inspected. It boasts a resolution that’s 10x that of the leading fiberscopes, zooms in/zoom out, and has a dimming function. It’s durable, two-way articulation shaft is built with a powerful LED light that allows the user to inspect at night or in darker places. Since the Perfect Vision V20 Videoscope doesn’t contain fiber optic cables, it is less prone to damage compared to fiberscopes.
But the feature that is most appreciated of the Perfect Vision V20 Videoscope is its certification from the Underwriters Laboratory (UL), the leading name when it comes to product safety. The UL has certified the videoscope as “safe.” This very certification has allowed law enforcement and drug interdiction agents to use the videoscope even in high-risk areas like gas tanks. There aren’t a lot of videoscopes which are certified “safe” by the UL like the Perfect Vision Videoscope.
While the Buster detects the unnatural levels of density of a suspected object — the sign that it is most likely to carry contraband — the Perfect Vision V20 Videoscope confirms by visually inspecting it. Together, these two contraband detection tools from CSECO will make an ideal “team” to counter drug smuggling and trafficking of goods.
Both the Buster K910G and the Perfect Vision V20 Videoscope are also available in the CT-40 Contraband Team Detection Kit. This comprehensive kit has everything that a law enforcement agency needs. It also includes the PN-Series Inspection Probe Kit (a set stainless steel probes designed to trap contraband), Leica Laser Range Meter (ideal for detecting false walls and hidden compartments), and the PM-10 Extension Inspection Mirror with High-Intensity Flashlight. These tools are housed in a durable carrying case with wheels.
For over three decades, CSECO has been an active partner in combating drug trafficking and smuggling by offering top-of-the-line narcotics interdiction equipment. If you are interested in learning more about CSECO’s products or want to place an order, contact CSECO at info@cseco.com.
