Advantages of the CSECO Density Meter

Advantages of the CSECO Density Meter

The Buster K910B Density Meter, which is made by Campbell/Harris Security Equipment Company (CSECO), is considered the gold standard for density meters for a variety of excellent reasons. The Buster is used to find hidden cash, drugs, people, explosives, or other contraband in places where it would otherwise be difficult or impossible to access. Because of this application, the Buster’s primary users tend to be agents of the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and law enforcement officers both of local and state police departments.

Its portability is probably one of the greatest advantages. The Buster is reasonably small and light, and has the potential to be used at a distance with the addition of a telescoping handle. It is also one of the easiest devices to use when detecting hidden items or explosives is necessary.

Another of its biggest advantages is the fact that it can detect multiple types of contraband. This ability was built into the Buster by request of the government. Previous contraband detectors were limited to fewer types of material, meaning that agents needed multiple devices for the same process, and more time was needed to fully examine a vehicle or area.

Because CSECO partnered with the people who would be using the Buster to come up with its specifications, it is one of the easiest density meters to use. It can be easily used by people with no technology background as well as by those who are well versed in today’s technology. It has a clear, easy to read display, accompanied by an audio signal, whenever a discrepancy is noted during the scanning.

The Buster’s use of low-intensity gamma radiation for its scanning makes it possible for the density meter to read through nearly any material. This includes metal, reinforced plastic, upholstery, wood, and other materials. This sets it apart from its competitors because other scanners use microwaves, radio waves, millimeter waves, or ultra-violet waves, none of which are usable through the variety of materials that the Buster can scan through.

Another advantage of the Buster is its speed. It can be used to scan an entire average sized vehicle in less than five minutes. An entire average sized room can be scanned in about ten minutes. While larger rooms and vehicles will take a little more time, obviously, they are still within a much shorter time frame than the competitors.

The Rad-Aware technology that has been added to the Buster gives it yet another advantage – the ability to detect dangerous radiation. This allows CBP and law enforcement officers to set up a safe perimeter if it is needed to protect other people and themselves.

If you or your organization has a need for a density meter, you will be best served by acquiring the Buster K910B Density Meter from CSECO.
