Campbell/Harris Security Equipment Company (CSECO) is the home of the Buster K910G Density Meter, aka Buster. A product of research and innovation from CSECO founder Patrick J. Harris and agents from the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the Buster has been touted as the “gold standard” of contraband detection equipment, unequaled by other competitors’ density meters.
The Buster quickly and effectively detects and locates hidden contraband like narcotics and other illegal/prescribed drugs, currency, jewelry, alcohol, weapons, explosives, and even radioactive matter.
Since its creation came from the participation of the CBP, the Buster has been the chief contraband detector used by their agents especially when inspecting vehicles that cross the border. The Buster has been used and highly recommended by other law enforcement agencies across the country, as well.
The Buster emits a low-intensity gamma radiation and scintillation detector. This means it has the ability to quickly scan through many surfaces like wood, concrete, metal, reinforced plastic, glass, and cloth. This allows agents to scan through suspected materials without externally damaging them. If the Buster picks up a drastic change in density, it is likely contraband has been found. Here’s how it works: the Buster is able to detect differences in density of the materials being scanned. The Buster sends the user an alarm when it reads a sudden rise in reading the density which indicates that contraband may be present. The alarms are both audible and visual so the user does not miss them.
The Buster’s technology allows for a quick inspection. The Buster can detect a vehicle within 5 minutes and an average-sized room within 10 minutes. Its performance allows interdiction officers, particularly the CBP agents who inspect one vehicle to another during stops, to scan vehicles and their contents quickly.
Rival devices use other technology like microwave, millimeter wave, radio wave, and ultraviolet wave. However, their detecting capabilities are severely limited and are not as quick and versatile as the Buster. CBP agents and other interdiction officers who use the Buster feel its use of radio isotopes in scanning materials and detecting hidden contraband is superior because it leads to more accurate and productive searches.
The Buster also has RAD-Aware® technology which allows officers to inspect for the possible presence of radioactive material. Once radioactive leaks are detected by the Buster, the first responders immediately establish safety perimeters for other officers and civilians, keeping them from harm.
Despite being the number one contraband detector/density meter for decades, CSECO does not rest on its laurels, so to speak. The company continues to apply significant improvements on the Buster’s performance and quality. CSECO has unveiled the new Buster K910G which is now available on the market — a safer version of the original Buster. The new Buster K910G has a 7.5 micro curie Barium 133 source which is at least 25% or more less than rival density meters. CSECO has also removed all lead components from the interior of the Buster. This means the Buster K910G is the safest density meter available for both the user and the environment.
The success of the Buster is a proof that it easily stands out among the competition. To learn more about the Buster Density Meter, contact us at 510-864-8010 or email us at info@cseco.com (for USA only).
