Police Officers Use and Trust the Buster Contraband Detector

The chief duties of police officers are to uphold law and order and to protect people and property in their jurisdiction. From the looks of it, the job of police officers is obviously not an easy one. There is always a potential for danger and risks on the part of the police officers’ safety. There’s controlling the traffic, patrolling the streets and the neighborhoods, and arresting violators.

Police officers also have other duties: taking illegal substances off the streets and stemming the activity of smuggling. The police body is still waging a war against drugs and need help from not only the communities in which they serve, but sometimes even from outside sources. This seems to be an uphill climb up to now but thanks to technology, the task of drug detection has become significantly less difficult, burdensome, and challenging for the men and women in blue.

One of the tools that most police officers use and trust the most is the Buster contraband detector. This density meter was developed by Campbell/Harris Security Equipment Company (CSECO) with direct partnership with Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents during the 1980s. Since its launch, the Buster has been hailed as the “gold standard” of contraband detection. CSECO has recently made some tweaks to it to ensure a safer handling and detection experience for its users.

The core of the Buster’s high performance is its cutting-edge technology. It still uses the low-intensity gamma radiation emitter and scintillation detector which helps it quickly scan vehicles or residences for hidden narcotics, illegal substances, and other forms of contraband. It is designed in such a way to allow a police officer or inspector to determine whether a suspect vehicle tests positive for hidden contraband within five minutes, or an average-sized room within 10 minutes.

From the surface perspective, the Buster is quite versatile as it can scan wood, metal, stone, and reinforced plastic. The great thing about the Buster is that it has the ability to scan for any possible contraband which might be stuffed inside the suspect object without damaging it. This is something that millimeter wave, radio wave, ultra-violet, or microwave technologies cannot do.

Plus, it can also detect various kinds of hidden items that range from narcotics to cash. It can even detect amounts of radioactivity thanks to Buster’s RAD-Aware function. It allows first responders to set up safety boundaries if there’s a dirty bomb or any other radioactive release.

As said before, CSECO has recently made some tweaks to the Buster so it is safer than ever to use. The updated Buster K910G still has the same function as the previous K910B, but the K910G’s radioactive source is now 25% smaller than that of its closest rivals. All the lead components that are present in the K910B have now been removed in the K910G, making the Buster the safest density meter on the market!

Over the decades, the Buster has been responsible for the seizure of the billions of dollars’ worth of hidden contraband such as illegal substances, cash, and illegally procured and owned weapons.

With its advanced technology, proven track record and enhanced safety features, the Buster contraband detector has remained the top choice of police officers across the United States.
