Tony Harris – President

Anthony “Tony” Harris is the president and CEO of Campbell/Harris Security Equipment Company (CSECO), manufacturer of density meters and contraband detection equipment for contraband of all types, explosives, and ‘dirty bombs.’ The main customers for contraband detectors designed and manufactured by CSECO include the United States State Department, Department of Homeland Security, and the United States Customs and Border Protection. These products are also used by domestic and international law enforcement agencies.

Prior to acquiring CSECO, Harris was the vice president of marketing for Calpine Corporation which is headquartered in San Jose, California. While he was there, he was responsible for brand management, marketing development and execution, new product development, advertising, and sales training. Prior to his time at Calpine, Harris was vice president of National Account Services and Western Region sales at PG&E Services in San Francisco. Other positions he has held include division manager of T&D operations and vice president of marketing and sales Pacific Gas & Electric Company as well as president and director of Standard Pacific Gas Line, Inc.

Harris is not a stranger to entrepreneurship. He has also been the president and CEO of StyleChoice.com, a Silicon Valley start-up venture as well as president and CEO of Sonoma Ford/Lincoln Mercury. He was also general manager of Anaheim Lincoln Mercury, program manager for Ford Aerospace & Communications Corp., and quality supervisor for transmission & chassis division and product supervisor for plastics, paint & vinyl division at Ford Motor Company. Harris also worked for Standard Oil Company in Chicago, Illinois as a design engineer and project engineer.

Harris is a 1975 graduate of Purdue University with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. He also holds an MBA from Harvard Graduate School of Business in 1979. Purdue University has recognized Harris’ contribution to the Engineering industry by naming him Purdue Outstanding Mechanical Engineer in 1999, Distinguished Engineering Alumnus in 2008, and conferring the degree of Doctor of Engineering, honoris causa, upon Dr. Harris in 2013.

While a student at Purdue, Harris was one of the founders of the National Society of Black Engineers, in which he currently serves as a member of the organization’s National Advisory Board. Beyond NSBE, Harris has led efforts to support minorities in STEM fields and industry through his service on the California State Board of Education’s African American Advisory Committee, and the Executive Leadership Council (ELC), an organization of corporate executives in Fortune 500 companies dedicated to fostering Black leadership and excellence in business.

Harris also served on the board of directors of the SFJAZZ Center (2013-2019) the Oakland Museum of California (1995-2001) and the advisory board of One California Bank (2001-2007). He recently began serving on the Purdue University Global Affairs Strategic Advisory Council (SAC) and was appointed to the Board of Directors for Fuel Systems Solutions, Inc. In 2015 he was appointed to the Board of Directors Westport Fuel Systems Corporation, where he also served as chairman of the Governance Committee from 2018 to 2020.
