Buster Density Meter Is an Important Contraband Detection Tool

The Buster K910B Density Meter by Campbell/Harris Security Equipment Company (CSECO) is considered the ‘gold standard’ of contraband detection equipment. It is emulated by other manufacturers of density meters, because of the high quality, reliability, and effectiveness that the Buster has displayed since its creation.

The Buster is able to scan an average room in less than ten minutes, regardless what material is used to hide contraband. The Buster is able to see through wood, metal, and reinforced plastic without causing any damage to the material or the substances that may be hidden behind them.

The development of the Buster included input from agents that work for the U.S. Customs and Border Protection. The task was to make it as effective as possible for these agents as well as law enforcement officers, both locally and internationally.

The base K910B Buster Density Meter is handheld and easy to handle. It works fast, accurate, and reliable. It is sturdy and close to indestructible.

The built in function of Rad-Aware technology for the unit allows officials to also detect explosives and, if necessary, set up a safe perimeter if a dirty bomb has been detonated. This added functionality increases both value and effectiveness of the device.

An external addition to the Buster is the “Buster-on-a-Stick” which includes a remote display. This allows users to reach into narrow areas or up to areas that would otherwise be out of reach. The display is closer to the handle grip, to allow the screen to be read easily. An this being used effectively is when inspecting a large, full tractor-trailer truck. Unpacking the inside and repacking could take hours, while the Buster can detect anomalies quickly and easily, in any part of the load. When contraband has been detected by the density meter, agents and officers will then know that repacking is needed.

Without the use of an instrument like the Buster, contraband detection would be a much more difficult task that would take more manpower and time. The Buster, which uses low intensity gamma radiation and a scintillation detector, is perfectly suited for making the job simpler for those law enforcement officers and border protection agents who need to be able to detect contraband quickly.

The Buster has been in use for over 30 years with a consistently high reputation for accuracy and reliability. It is a testament to the quality that CSECO employs in its creation and design of effective contraband detection equipment and density meter.
