Using the Density Meter and Perfect Vision V20 Videoscope Together

Using the Density Meter and Perfect Vision V20 Videoscope Together

Law enforcement officers, including agents from the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) have always trusted products from Campbell/Harris Security Equipment Company (CSECO). It is the home of the Buster K910B Density Meter, the company’s first product invented by its founder, Patrick Campbell, with input from the CBP agents themselves.

Now the Buster K910B is even better. In fact, the number one density meter in the world has evolved into the latest Buster K910G!

The Buster K910G Density Meter has retained some of the features of its predecessor. It still has the low intensity gamma radiation and a scintillation detector which allows the user to scan through a variety of material including wood, carton, metal, reinforced plastic, brick, stone, and even organic matter such as dirt and liquids. Officers who use the Buster will be able to scan through these materials without damaging them. When the Buster reads the density of an object and it is abnormally higher than usual, it is a strong indication that contraband is present underneath that material that is being scanned. That’s when the agents may have to damage that object in order to seize the previously hidden contraband. Contraband can include many items including narcotics, drugs (illegal or prescribed), currency, jewelry, alcohol, weapons, and even explosives.

The most advanced technology possible used on the Buster K910G allows users to scan materials or locations in a matter of minutes. Agents can scan an entire average-sized room within 10 minutes or a typical vehicle within 5 minutes.

It displays relevant and accurate data by two ways — on the clear LCD display and by an audible alarm. The audible alarm is useful when using the “Buster on a Stick” which is the Buster securely affixed to an extendable pole to allow users to reach higher than would be possible with normal reach.

The Buster can also detect dangerous radioactive matter through its RAD-Aware® feature. This technology enables first responders to set up safety perimeters in the event of a dirty-bomb explosion or any other radioactive release. Safety perimeters will keep the responders and citizens out of potentially dangerous areas.

The Buster K910G has seen significant improvements from the previous Buster K910B. The updated Buster has a more ergonomic design, which makes it easier to grip and hold. A strap has also been added to the device to help users maintain a secure grip on it, making sure that it will not drop. It also features a 7.5 micro curie Barium 133 source, which is at least 25% or more less than our competitors’ density meters. The potentially-harmful lead-based parts of the Buster have been removed in the new K910G. This makes it safer to use for inspections.

The Buster works best as its intended — it can scan a variety of objects such as tires, car seats, car trunks, walls, containers, etc. It can scan the outside of a gas tank, but cannot probe deeper inside it. Unless the user is a trained individual who instinctively knows that contraband is there or not without scoping what’s inside the gas tank, it might throw him off. That’s why there’s the Perfect Vision V20 Videoscope Inspection System, one of CSECO’s newest products, for this purpose.

The Perfect Vision V20 Videoscope is a one-piece handheld visual inspection unit which works like the leading fiberscopes. However, the Perfect Vision is different because of its outstanding features. First, it has a 5-inch color LCD display with push-button dimming and a continual digital zoom which is 10x the resolution of the leading fiberscopes on the market. This reduces eye fatigue for the user. And, since the Perfect Vision V20 has the LCD display, it means the officer can also keep an eye on the vicinity surrounding them to maintain their personal safety.

Second, the Perfect Vision V20 Videoscope doesn’t use glass fibers, so it is highly resistant to damage. It has a 2mmx6mm fuel-safe and tungsten-protected shaft equipped with two-way articulation and a powerful LED lighting. The user can insert the shaft into anything that is narrower, deeper or inaccessible and be able to view what is being inspecting on the LCD screen. If the Buster picks up signs of hidden contraband on the surface, the Perfect Vision V20 Videoscope can further identify what’s inside the surface. It is designed to be used also during the evening or in dark locations.

The third and most important thing about the safety features of the Perfect Vision V20 Videoscope Inspection System is that it is certified safe by the Underwriters Laboratory (UL). This means it is safe to use in high-risk locations such as fuel tanks. There are many fiberscopes and videoscopes out there but not all of them have that distinction. The Perfect Vision V2 Videoscope was the first.

The Buster K910G Density Meter and the Perfect Vision V20 Videoscope are already excellent on their own. But when used together, they make an unbeatable combination to combat drug trafficking and smuggling.

Tony Harris, President and CEO, and Pat Campbell, founder, of CSECO explain about the Buster density meter and other contraband detectors.
